What Your Client or Patient Can Expect

The first hour will involve a review of major physical and cognitive symptoms as well as a review of medical, educational, and social history. By the end of the interview, we will be able to determine which neuropsychological tests will be best suited to measure brain functioning based on particular presenting symptoms and history.

All results of testing will be discussed, in detail, with any questions answered in clear, understandable language. Specific, realistic, and relevant recommendations are made, designed to either:

  1. increase functioning over time, or

  2. use identified strengths to overcome any persisting weaknesses

Preparing Your Client or Patient for Testing Day

Neuropsychology is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it requires a very active effort from your client or patient. In order for the testing to be most successful, they will have to work to do their best on a wide range of measures that we will administer to test brain function, personality, and mood.

Neuropsychological testing usually takes between 6 to 8 hours, conducted in one day. Breaks are taken, as needed, with a one-hour lunch break given at noon.

Our approach is to obtain sufficient testing to diagnose and fully understand your cognitive issues. We have found that the the vast majority of clients and patients provide both optimal performance and critical information in 6 to 8 hours of testing.

We accept most insurances, including: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Presbyterian, United, and Medicare.
